Welcome To Ms. Jarrett's 5th Grade

WELCOME TO ROOM 40 Spring 2020
The circumstances for the mandatory closure of our schools have made a huge impact on our lives. The safety of everyone is the most important thing that we can ask everyone to maintain by staying away from public places. Closed schools do not mean vacation.  Our learning experiences can and will continue in this very difficult time.
During this time the courageous student of room 40 will continue their learning away from school on ZOOM. The platform allows students and teacher to continue learning while at home. Zoom meetings are hosted by me on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays whole groups from 8:45- 12-12:15. Students will continue to have direct/remote  instruction in English Language Arts (Benchmark advance and Amplify) Math (Zearn/ Eureka Math) Science (Amplify, Ducksters) Social Studies (Impact), and P.E
Students also have open access to Google Classroom to interact with me and with each other. Students can ask questions, share thoughts and feelings, share information, share educational websites, and share projects.
I have a responsibility to Marvin Avenue Elementary and that is to make sure that all my students continue to learn. I am happy to serve my school and my students during this crisis.
Stay Safe,
 Ms. Jarrett
Welcome to my class. I look forward to another productive year of learning and growing. I am here to help students reach their greatest potential. I have had the pleasure of working at Marvin Magnet school for the past twenty-one years. Teaching is one of the things I enjoy. My primary goal as a teacher is to bring a love of lifelong learning to all my students. The experiences of the past 22 years have  been amazing. My students have come from a variety of different backgrounds and together we have built long lasting bonds. I have high expectations for each student and work diligently to help him/her achieve them. I believe that every child is capable of  reaching academic success with the right tools and guidance. Motivation is the most important factor in learning and without that dreams are not actualized. I believe that in order for success to be accomplished in the classroom, a partnership must be forged between teacher, parents, and student. Together, we will work to make this year exceptional.
Through connection, cooperation, and collaboration students work together to complete project based learning goals across the curriculum areas. The biggest goals for the 2019-20 school year is to have every student meet and exceed grade level standards and be college and career ready.
Classroom rules
Students must remember that Marvin Avenue follow the three Bs. Be Respectful. Be Responsible. Be Safe.
The same rules apply for both outside and inside the classroom. Students keep in mind that correct behavior should be maintained at all times.
